Talking bot is here!!

Scientists in japan have been successful in creating rather re-creating the entire vocal system of humans, i.e. vocal cavity, tongue, vocal chords, lips, teeth, soft palate and lungs. And according to the listeners the result is clear and natural speech in japanese ofcourse.See the article on bots who imitate human life.

There is this site http://www.20q.net/ .Though hard-core players won't be interested but for AI enthusiasts, its good enough. There is an artificial neural net at play .You think about an object and by asking a series of questions it will guess what you were thinking about. In my case ,it got it absolutely right.Try it once.just for some intelligent fun!!!

Brave new worlds

I just finished reading a marvelous book titled "BRAVE NEW WORLDS " by bryan appleyard, and i want to admit that it is one of the books you just can't afford to miss even if you have an iota of interest in genetics.Although i never read any book on genetics as such but this one is superb.Bryan appleyard explores the promise and danger of genetic manipulation. With genocentrism becoming the dominant orthodoxy, genes can be blamed or credited with determining everything from sexual orientation to criminal behaviour and religious belief ,scientists are being blamed for everything. At a time when ethics take the place for everything this book tells the reader how much is actually enough. A book for you shelf!!
